Self Driving Reimbursement: Waldo County residents that hold a current MaineCare card are eligible for mileage and related travel expense reimbursement when they provide or arrange their own medical transportation. Mileage is reimbursable at a rate of $.22 per mile from the MaineCare member's home to their medical appointment destination and return trip home. Expenses for hotels, meals, tolls, common carrier charges, parking, etc., are reimbursable for medical appointments requiring an overnight stay outside the state of Maine with prior authorization. Reimbursement is also available for tolls, common carrier charges and parking expenses incurred when traveling to medical appointments anywhere in the state of Maine. In the event that you are unable to drive yourself, the Waldo County Transportation Program will provide transportation by bus, van or automobile for MaineCare members to medical appointments for clients that cannot arrange their own medical transportation.
Department of Health and Human Services: Door-to-door transportation to Belfast from all towns in Waldo County available for grocery shopping, personal business and medical appointments for low-income families. This service requires an application process.
General Public Transportation: Residents of Waldo County may ride any of the Scheduled bus routes to Belfast, Bangor, Augusta, Waterville and Rockland for a nominal fee ranging from $1.00 to $5.00 for a one-way trip. This should be scheduled in advance by calling the WCTP office.
MaineCare Transportation: The WCTP will provide transportation by bus, van or automobile for MaineCare members to medical appointments for clients that cannot arrange their own medical transportation. Medical transportation is provided by agency and or volunteer drivers.
Contracted Services: Group trips are available to the public to points within a 100 mile radius of the county line. Transportation is available upon completion of a contract.
Belfast Shopper: The Belfast Shopper is a bus run that makes a continuous loop through the city of Belfast. Passengers may be dropped off and picked up at any medical facility, bus stop or major shopping mall on this deviated fixed route. General public riders must pay their one-way fare when boarding the bus. No appointment is necessary to use this service.

* Reservations must be made by 4:00 pm two business days in advance to reserve a seat on any route operated by the Waldo County Transportation Program, except for the Belfast Shopper route, where reservations are not required. Riders must be ready for their pickup one-half hour before the scheduled travel time for the trips.
